Rainbow Mountain

Gracemere, Rockhampton, Qld., Australia

In just 30 minutes drive from Rockhampton you will arrive at Mountain View, a working cattle grazing property, part of which is the 1100 hectare Rainbow Mountain Nature Refuge. Rainbow Mountain was named for its multi-coloured sandstone laid down eons ago. Your guide will be waiting for you at the homestead to share with you the splendour of this natural area. Drive through the property to the morning tea spot among the gum trees, before beginning the guided walk up through the Aussie bush.
The bonus of this walk is the magnificent views of the surrounding countryside including Stanwell Power Station beyond its own nature refuge. As we cross Kangaroo Grass Plateau and Razorback Ridge, your guide will share knowledge of the plants, wildlife and ecosystem of this semi-arid region.
